Description

Have you talked with your kids today? Connect With Kids can help!

Featuring real kids talking about real issues, the Emmy award-winning Connect With Kids series helps inspire communication between parents and their children about the challenges, pressures and influences every teenager faces. Making it easier to talk to your High-Schooler about today’s tough issues, this Survival Kit contains programs covering the topics: Internet Dangers, Drugs & Alcohol, Dating & Sex, Anxiety & Depression

The program "Shattered" features true stories from teens whose lives were drastically changed as the result of drunk driving. "Generation RX" goes beyond illegal drug use and focuses on the problem of prescription and over-the-counter drug abuse in teens. "Sticks and Stones" and "The Internet Generation" present hard facts and real-life examples about bullying, gossiping, emotional harassment and internet dangers. "The Enemy Inside" explores teenage self-injury such as cutting, burning, scratching and other hard-to-understand behaviors that are on the rise among teens. "Sex and the Silent Parent" addresses the importance of open communication between parents and their children about sex, and for actively dating teens, "Someone You Know" uncovers the warning signs of potentially abusive relationships.

The High School Survival Kit also features "Ask the Experts" bonus segments providing additional information on all the topics discussed.

Informed Mom Said: Informed Middle School Mom ( Aug. 11th 2008 )

Middle school isn't easy for kids -- and I am now convinced that it's just as challenging for parents. Connect with Kids DVDs and the Connect with Kids website have helped me as a parent navigate many of the middle school issues over the past year, especially what our kids are doing online (Screen Addicts was more about online addictions than the predator safety tips that we hear so much about.) The programs don't really tell me "what to do" as much as just helping me to be aware and informed about what the kids are really dealing with. Middle School Survival Kit is on my school supply list this year -- along with the High School Survival kit. Parents out there, we need to wake up!

I am quite familiar with this series having viewed many of the episodes created by Connect With Kids on air. The producers have created a very powerful tool for parents to make use of (I have) when trying to 1) understand and 2) communicate with their kids on numerous difficult subjects to approach and address. Their tactic of "kids talking to kids" is so perfectly developed. Let's face it, kids don't necessarily want to hear from adults on such subjects, but hearing insights and retrospect coming from their own contemporaries is a perfect tactic to get their attention.

Many a conversational door will surely be opened due to this program, and once such conversations begin, it's up to parents and their kids to stay the course. My kudos to Connect with Kids for their efforts to create and now release on video such a fantastic series.

This survival kit has truly assisted me in talking with my children about the peer pressures and issues that face them everyday. As a parent I've had trouble talking to my kids and coming up with the best way to approach them. This dvd has guided me in doing this.

It provides practical advice from child experts, educators, and other parents who have "been there".
